Mary Elizabeth 'Dolly' Schlabach, 82

GREENWOOD - Mary Elizabeth "Dolly" Schlabach of Greenwood died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2007, in Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital. She was 82.

Dolly was born Dec. 8, 1924, daughter of the late Thomas Jefferson and Mabel (Keim) Tennefoss, in Fentress, Va.

For many years she helped her husband on the farm; in the early years milking cows and in later years raising chickens.

Dolly loved to garden and would can and freeze it's produce.

She enjoyed sewing, making most of her clothes.

Dolly was a member of the Greenwood Mennonite Church, and going to her church sewing circle was a monthly highlight for her, even after she broke her hips.

She loved having company, be it family, friends or strangers.

Dolly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

For a number of years she and her husband provided a home for several foster children.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Carl Tennefoss, Meredith Tennefoss and Thomas Tennefoss; four sisters, Carrie Tennefoss, Mae Bawel, Hester Welfley and Dorothy Hochstetler; one son-in-law, Joe Yutzy; and one granddaughter, Stacey Justice.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, E. Timothy of Milford; five children and their spouses, Aileen and Allan Warfel of Milford, Nathan and Shelby Schlabach of Greenwood, Ruby and Nelson Yoder of Harrisonburg, Va., Sharon and Tom Blair of Rapid City, S.D., and David and Mary Anna Smith of Sarasota, Fla.; one brother, Jimmy Tennefoss of Amelia, Va.; two sisters, Pauline Miller of Chesapeake, Va., and Ruth Burgess of Raleigh, N.C.; 12 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today in the Greenwood Mennonite Church.

Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the church.

Burial will be private at the church's cemetery.

Donations may be made to the Greenwood Mennonite School, 12802 Mennonite School Road, Greenwood, DE 19950; or the Greenwood Mennonite Church, 12525 Shawnee Road, Greenwood, DE 19950.

Arrangements by Fleischauer Funeral Home, Greenwood.
