HARRINGTON - Mary Elizabeth Herrmann, 73, of Harrington, formerly of Tannersville, Pa., passed away, Monday, Aug. 30, 2010, at the Genesis-Milford Center. Mrs. Herrmann was a homemaker. After her children were older, she ran and operated a tailor store for over 15 years. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening. She canned some of the produce and loved to make jelly. Mrs. Herrmann moved unto a small farm where she loved to take care of the horses and goats. She was affectionately nicknamed "Grandma Goats." Throughout her life, she always kept busy and was a hard worker. She was an outgoing, friendly, and easy going person whom many felt was the nicest and most kind hearted person you will ever meet. In addition to her mother, Gwendolyn Burge, she was preceded in death by her husband, John "Jack" William Herrmann; and grandsons, Ross and William Herrmann. She is survived by sons and daughter-in-law, John Albert and Patti Herrmann of Lakewood, N.J. and James Charles Herrmann of Hillside, N.J.; daughter and son-in-law, Daryl and Erik Smith of Harrington; sisters, Ruth Apgar of Maine and Eleanor Wilson of Arizona; and granddaughter, Jessica. Memorial service will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011. Arrangements are by the Melvin Funeral Home, Harrington.
