Mary Edith Rhodes, 97
Mary Edith Rhodes of Queen Anne died Monday, Jan. 22, 2007, in Caroline Nursing Home, Denton. She was 97.
Mrs. Rhodes was born Aug. 11, 1909, in Bridgetown, daughter of the late Lacy Arvel and Zada Alma (Hunter) Robinson.
As a small child she moved from Bridgetown to Cordova, and in 1927 she graduated from Cordova High School. She attended Salisbury Normal School in 1927 and Goldey Beacom College in 1929.
Following her graduation she worked for Noble Motor Co. in Easton.
In May 1934 she married Holton E. Rhodes Sr., a farmer in Talbot County.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Holton E. Rhodes Sr., July 4, 1996; a sister, Ruth Eloise Boyer, in 1993; and a brother, James Arvel Robinson, in 2004.
She is survived by a son, Holton E. Rhodes Jr.; a daughter, Lois Lunn; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three nephews, Chip Boyer, Jeff Boyer and David Boyer; several cousins; and many special friends.
A Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Thursday in St. Peter Catholic Church, Queenstown, where friends may call one hour earlier in the Memorial Room at St. Peter's Church.
Burial will be in St. Peters Catholic Church Cemetery.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Benedictine School, 14299 Benedictine Lane, Ridgely, MD 21660; or St. Peters Catholic Church Memorial Cemetery Fund, c/o Dr. Harry Rhodes, 7123 First Avenue, Queenstown, MD 21658.
