DOVER - Mary E. Anderson passed away on Aug. 18, 2017.
Mary Anderson started her career at Bayhealth's Kent General Hospital in 1973 as a phlebotomist drawing lab samples on patients inside the hospital. She later worked in outpatient locations in Dover and Felton. Most recently, Mary worked as a patient care tech in Bayhealth's Smyrna Outpatient Services Center. During her 44 years of service, she trained a great number of nurses, ED technicians and laboratory staff in the skill of phlebotomy. She was a dedicated, caring employee and loved by her co-workers and patients. Many of her patients would travel to Smyrna to experience her warm smile and jovial conversation.
In her free time, Mary enjoyed working in her garden, sewing, making crafts and spending time with her husband. She will be missed dearly.
Mrs. Anderson is survived by her husband, Richard J. Anderson; her son, Thomas C. Walls and his wife Ann-Marie of Sarasota, Fla.; two brothers, George Engelhart of Viola and Riley Gibbs and his wife Debbie of Oak Orchard; and by her sister, Thelma Hrupsa and her husband Bartos of Felton.
