Mary Agnes Rebecca Brown

TOWNSEND - Mary Agnes Rebecca Brown passed away peacefully on September 12th in the home she loved. She was born on February 1, 1923 to the late John and Mabel Guessford. Mary graduated from Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1945. She practiced her nursing profession in many settings including hospitals, doctor's offices and schools for over fifty years.. She was a life time member of Immanuel United Methodist Church in Townsend where she held many positions, most recently as a member of the choir. Mary also served as a member of the Townsend Town Council and was president of the Townsend Cemetery Board. She loved her home and cherished the many pieces of hand crafted furniture made by her husband and her father. Mary was preceded in death by her husband Julian Brown and her son, David Baldwin. She is survived by her daughter, Suzanne Clark of Townsend; her step-daughter June and husband Ed Stafford of Newark; her grandchildren Thomas Jr. and wife Jennifer Clark, Karen Clark and her fiance' Kevin Wojciechowski all of Blackbird; Joshua Baldwin of Wilmington; William Grant and Tammy Jacoby of Newark; her great-grandchildren Thomas III, Julian and Laurel Clark, Hannah, Jordan and Jenna Harmon, and Katelyn Wojciechowski. She also is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be held 1:00 pm Thursday, September 18th at Immanuel UM Church 209 W. Main Street, Townsend, DE 19734 where visitation will be from 12to 1. Interment will be at Townsend Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Immanuel United Methodist Church or Immanuel Townsend's Relay for Life team, both at PO Box 60, Townsend, DE 19734.
