Mary A. D'Annunzio, 86
DOVER - Mary A. D'Annunzio, of Dover, died Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2008, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. She was 86. Mrs. D'Annunzio was born June 10, 1922, in Chicago, Ill., to the late George Engel and Mary Murray Engel. She worked as a secretary for Dover Air Force Base Federal Credit Union for 5 years, then for the Seymour Johnson AFB Federal Credit Union for 3 years and retired in 1985 from the University of Maryland, College Park after 21 years. Mary was a cross-stitching expert, an avid sports fan and loved tailgating at the Maryland Terps games. She enjoyed watching Tiger Woods, the Philadelphia Eagles, the Phillies and the Washington Redskins but especially loved watching her grandchildren's sporting events. She was a member of the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Dover. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Frank R. D'Annunzio; and her brothers, George and Fred Engel. She is survived by her two sons, Frank J. D'Annunzio of Brandywine, Md., and Mark D'Annunzio of Cary, Ill.; two daughters, Elizabeth A. Kiddy of Waldorf, Md., and Maryrose D'Annunzio of Dover; five grandchildren, Mimi, Scott, Jay, Mike and Karly; and five great-grandchildren, Samantha, Nick, Zack, Alyssa and Jayson and their families. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Friday in Holy Cross Catholic Church, 631 S. State St., Dover. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Thursday evening at Torbert Funeral Chapel, 1145 E. Lebanon Road, Dover. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery.
