MILFORD - Martin T. Rothermel died peacefully surrounded by family at the Delaware Hospice Center on Friday, Dec. 14, 2012. Marty was a member of the Avenue United Methodist Church in Milford, Del. He was also a past President of the United Methodist Men and the Emmaus Community. Marty enjoyed golfing, hunting, and fishing. He loved sports. He loved all Philadelphia teams, as well as Notre Dame. He played American Legion Baseball and also coached baseball for Milford and Dover Little Leagues. Marty graduated from Felton High School, class of 1956. He worked as a Supervisor at General Foods for 28 years, retiring in 1989. He then worked as the Groundskeeper for Dover Little League until 1998 when he started his own lawn care business, Marty's Lawn Service. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Margaret Rothermel, Sr.; brothers, Frank Jr. (Bill), Herbert, and John; sister, Sarah; and grandson, Chase M. Rothermel. Marty is survived by his wife of 20 years, Sharon Rothermel; sisters, Frances Bennett, Ruth Bennett, Helen Sharp, Marian Keily; brothers, Harold, and twin brother Marvin; mother-in-law, Ann Chambers of Milford; sons, Jeffery and his wife Tracey, David and his wife Tonya, of Milford, Daniel and his wife Dawn of Milford; daughter Donna and her husband Edward of Magnolia; step-daughters, Paula Jenkins, Carrie Shockley, Lori Shockley and her fiancé Eliot Tomaszewski of Gilbert, Ariz.; stepson, Michael Shockley and his wife Jennifer of Gainesville, Fla.; grandchildren, Kyle Rothermel, Morgan Rothermel-Albert, Clay Semans, Taylor Rothermel, Kane Rothermel, Courtney Semans, Morgan Kemp, McKenna Rothermel, Jocelyn Kemp, Tyler Fretz, Eli Kemp, Dylan Lloyd, Zoe Rothermel, Jadyn Jenkins, Julianna Lloyd, Zachary Lloyd, Bay Rothermel, Coryn Rothermel, Elie Tomaszewski; great-grandchildren, Rylan Albert and Aleigha Deputy. He is also survived by his best friend and companion, Heidi, his beloved miniature Dachshund. Services will be held, Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012 at Avenue United Methodist Church in Milford, DE. The service will begin at 5 p.m. where friends may call after 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers a contribution can be made in Martin Rothermel's name to: Delaware Hospice 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963 or Avenue United Methodist Church 20 N. Church St, Milford, DE.
