Martin Patterson, 88

CHESTERTOWN, Md. - Marsina May Martin Patterson of Chestertown died Friday, June 1, 2007, in Chestertown. She was 88.

The only child of Margaret Conwell, she was born in Keyport, N.J., on Aug. 5, 1918.

Marsina grew up in Leonardo, N.J., and graduated from Leonardo High School with the class of 1937.

She married Charles R. Patterson Jr. on July 4, 1940. They moved to Cambridge in 1949, and her present farm near Chestertown, Queen Anne"s County, in 1958. Her husband died on Aug. 18, 2006, after 66 years of marriage.

Marsina was a 4-H leader in both counties, and was a Maryland 4-H All Star. She was active in homemaker clubs in both counties, holding most offices - local, county and state. She organized the Double Creek Homemakers in Northern Queen Anne"s County. She was a member of St. Luke"s Parish, Church Hill.

She worked in retail sales in Cambridge and as a library assistant in Kent County.

Marsina and her husband enjoyed spending winters in Florida, Texas and Central America.

She is survived by two children, Patricia "Pat" Kimble Scott and her husband Lynwood, and Charles R. Patterson III and his wife Martha (Taylor), all of near Chestertown; four grandsons, E. Theodore Kimble Jr. and his wife Robin, and Robert P. Kimble, all of Sudlersville, Charles R. Patterson IV and Sherry of near Chestertown, and David P. Patterson and Laci of Lewistown, Pa.; two granddaughters, Patricia "Patty" Kimble Clark and Phil of Chestertown, and Cheryl (Patterson) Hill and Trey of Rock Hall; and 10 great-grandchildren, Robert, Sabrina, Caitlyn, Cameron, Chad, Nathan, Makayla, Dillon, Mason and Taylor.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday in St. Andrew"s Chapel, Sudlersville, with the Rev. N. Hawthorne officiating. Relatives and friends may call from 11:30 to 1 p.m. at the church on Monday.

Burial will be in Crumpton Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Luke"s Parish, P.O. Box 38, Church Hill, MD 21623.
