Marie L. (Loper) Banks, 91

READING, Pa. - Marie L. Banks, 91, Reading, formerly of Delaware, passed away peacefully Oct. 5, 2009, in the Wyomissing Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Wyomissing. Born Sept. 16, 1918, in Camden, Del., she was the daughter of the late Roy Loper and Bessie (White) Loper. She retired from the former Bell Telephone Company with more than 30 years of service. Marie was a 1958 graduate of William Henry High School, Dover, Del. She was a member of Zion Baptist Church, Reading. Surviving are a sister, Eleanor Young, Reading; one half-sister, Phyllis Kennedy, Dover, Del.; two half brothers, Wesley Loper, Reading and Alphonso Miles, Dover, Del.; two nephews, Charles Douglas and wife Tina, Myerstown; Fredrick Douglas and wife, Pearl, Delaware; three nieces, Dorothy Townsend and husband Sylvester, Chester, Margaret Baines and husband Robert, Delaware, and Marion Scott, Irvington, N.J. She was predeceased by two brothers, Robert and William Loper; two sisters Jeanette Loper and Elsie Gonzalez; and two half-sisters, Barbara and Arlean Miles. Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in Zion Baptist Church, Thorn & Washington Streets, Reading, PA 19601. Friends may call 10 a.m. until time of services in the church. Burial will be in Berks County Memorial Gardens, Fleetwood, PA. Services are entrusted to T.J. Baker Funeral Home, Inc., 222 N. Front Street, Reading, PA 19601.
