Marie 'Rie-Rie' Faries Saltzer, 86

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Marie "Rie-Rie" Faries Saltzer, of Lexington, and formerly of Smyrna, passed away at the Hospice Care Center, Lexington, on Saturday, March 21, 2009. She was 86. Mrs. Saltzer was a graduate of Smyrna High School and the Graduate Hospital School of Medical Technologists, Philadelphia, Pa. She worked as a medical technologist at hospitals in Fairmont, W.Va.; Milford; Pottstown, Pa.; and the Delaware Home and Hospital for the Chronically Ill, Smyrna. She retired in 1985. She was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Smyrna. Her husband, Richard D. Saltzer died in 1962. She is survived by a daughter, Barbara S. Newquist and her husband Charlie, of Lexington. Services will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday, March 26, at Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, 123 W. Commerce St., Smyrna, where friends may call at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Smyrna. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Altar Guild of St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 22 N. Union St., Smyrna, DE 19977.
