Mariane Baker Colyar, 76
MIDDLETOWN - Mariane Baker Colyar, 76, of the Middletown and Kenton area, daughter of the late Lewis and Kathryn Baker, wife of the late Raymond Colyar, and mother of the late Sharon R. McCorkle, passed away peacefully in her sleep Monday, March 26, 2007, in her home. She was 76.
She is survived by her sons, Terry and Kay Baker of Townsend, and Raymond and Chris Colyar Jr. of Townsend; her daughters, Kathryn Baker and Scott Demarest of Laurel, Kelly and Jim Penix of Laurel and Michelle Eldreth of Elizabethton, Tenn.; her sisters, Dorothy and Travis Manning of Millington, Md., and Kathleen Langley (Tomlinson) of Newark; a brother, George H. and Franny Baker of Townsend; 18 grandchildren, Lewis, Jon, Tara, Michael, Loretta, Billy, Christina, Nicole, Sharon, Danielle, Joshua, Cody, Cory, Stacy, Wesley, Matthew, Amy and Katie; and three great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Tyler and Taylor, plus one on the way.
Mrs. Colyar was employed for 17 years by Bell Telephone Co., and worked and retired from the Delaware Hospital for the Chronically Ill in Smyrna.
She was an avid reader and loved gardening and raising flowers.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in memory of Mariane Colyar to Shriners Nur Temple and Vietnam Vets of America Chapter 83.
A private memorial service will be held for family and friends at St Paul's United Methodist Church, 406 Main St., Odessa, at 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
Arrangements are being handled by Short Funeral Home, Delmar.
