Guandique 'Connie', 85 MARYDEL - Maria Consuelo Guandique "Connie" passed away Saturday, Dec. 5, 2015 at home. Ms. Guandique was born Feb. 20, 1930 in Nicaragua. Connie was a member of the Sisters of Mercy in Burlington, Vt., where she was an educator in many of the local Catholic schools. She moved to Dover in 1971 and worked as a 7th grade English teacher for the Capital School District at William Henry Middle School, for a couple years, and then Central Middle School retiring in 1991 after 20 years. She organized the drama club at Central Middle School. Ms. Guandique was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church. She is survived by her best friend and companion Elizabeth Felton of Marydel, Del. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m., Friday, Dec. 11, 2015 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 631 S. State Street, Dover, Del. Interment will be in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to The Sisters of Mercy, 100 Mansfield Ave., Burlington, Vt. 05401, C/O Sister Lucille MacDonald or to Holy Cross Catholic Church 631 S. State St., Dover, DE 19901. Letters of condolences may be sent and guest book signed at www.torbertfuneral.com.
