Marguerite Wainwright Brassell

DOVER - Marguerite Wainwright Brassell passed away Jan. 28, 2017 in Dover. Marguerite was born in Lawtey, Fla. to the late Truby Lee and Mable Britt Wainwright on Jun. 9, 1928. She went to Bradford County High School and graduated in 1946. She earned a teaching degree from Florida State University in 1950. She was a teacher for 24 years in Florida, Georgia and Virginia. After retiring from teaching she worked in the Healthcare Field for 10 years. One of her major passions was passing her love of books and reading to children thru the Read Aloud program in which she volunteered. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jack Dirrel Brassell, Sr.; and nine brothers. She is survived by her brother, Louie Lee Wainwright of Tallahassee, Fla.; her children, John Ferrel Brassell of Butner, N.C., Peggy Brassell Judd of Dover and Jack Dirrel (Susan) Brassell Jr. of Jackson, Tenn.; five grandchildren, Ami Judd and Kristy (Charles) Harmon of Dover, Benjamin Wilkins of Virginia, Jacklyn (Jimmy) Sulock and Ashlei Brassell of Jackson, Tenn.; and eight great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held at Trader Funeral Home in Dover on Feb. 3, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. with visiting beginning at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Read Aloud Delaware, 100 West 10th Street, Ste 309, Wilmington, DE 19801 or visit their website at readalouddelaware.org
