Margaretta Long Toop

KINGWOOD, Texas - Margaretta Long Toop, 94, passed away peacefully at home in Kingwood, Texas, with family by her side, on Mar. 20, 2017. Born in Everett, N.J. on Feb. 17, 1923,
Margaretta was predeceased by her spouse, Frank W. Toop; her parents; all five of her siblings; her granddaughter, Melissa Robertson; and her son-in-law, Stephen Leonard. She is survived by her four children, Robert Warren Toop and spouse Judith, Carol Lynn McCollough and spouse Clark, Janice Ann Leonard, Deborah Ellen Robertson and spouse Richard; and her five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
The Toop family lived in Dover, from the mid-50's until the mid-70's when they retired to the Dagsboro area. From 1973 to 1977, Mrs. Toop served as Personal Secretary to Delaware's Governor Sherman Tribbett. In 2001, Mrs. Toop moved to Kingwood, Texas to be closer to family.
Her memorial service will be held at Wesley United Methodist Church, Dover, at 2 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 10, 2017. Interment will follow at 1 pm, Friday, Aug. 11, 2017, at Arlington National Cemetery where she will rest in peace beside her beloved husband.
