Margaret V. Downes

WYOMING - Margaret V. Downes, 86, of Wyoming, passed away Saturday, March 19, 2011, at Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. She was born on May 7, 1924, in Marydel, to the late Brice and Margaret Donophan Virdin on the family farm near Marydel. She graduated from Ceasar Rodney High School in 1932. Margaret worked for Playtex in Dover for over 50 years both as a supervisor and forklift operator, retiring at the age of 70. She is preceded in death by her husband Wilbert "Junior" Downes in 1996. She is survived by daughter, Juanita Vockel; granddaughters, Carrie, and Susan Vockel and Sam Shockley; great-grandsons, Gauge Pierce and Dallas Stoken; and niece, Lynda Caulk, who helped the family with Margaret's care during her illness. Remembrance services will be 11 a.m., Thursday, March 24, 2011, at Trader Funeral Home, Dover. Burial will be at the Sharon Hill Memorial Park, Dover. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, March 23, 2011, at the Trader Funeral Home, Dover.
