MILLSBORO - Margaret L. Vickers, age 96, of Millsboro, passed away under hospice care on Oct. 13, 2011. Born in Georgetown, on April 13, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Frank B. and Lillie M. Ward. She was a homemaker who loved gardening, woodcrafts, needlepoint and crochet. At age 90, she won a 1st Place Ribbon at the Delaware State Fair; for a wood craft project. She loved to tease, have fun, was always happy and though stubborn and independent, she loved her family and adored her grandchildren. She was preceded, in addition to her parents, by her first husband, William J. Atkins, and her second husband, Elwood Vickers. She was also preceded by all of her siblings, Delema Reed, Marshall Ward, and Katherine Rust. She is survived by her son, Ronald R. Atkins, and his wife Susan Barlow Atkins of Millsboro; and two grandchildren, Andrew Atkins and wife Hester and Amy Atkins Kuhlman and husband Brett. She has three great-grandchildren, with one on the way. She also has three nieces and one nephew. A viewing and visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m., where friends may call. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 20, at the Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro. Chaplain Dusty Pruitt will officiate. Interment follows at the Millsboro Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriot's Way, Milford, DE 19963.
