Margaret 'Peggy Parks' Kirkendall, 66
BARNESVILLE, Ga. - Margaret "Peggy Parks" Kirkendall of Barnesville passed away after a short battle with cancer on Thursday, Nov. 1, 2007, at the Sacred Journey Hospice Home, McDonough, Ga. She was 66.
She was formerly a 35-year resident of Reliance and three-year resident of Barnesville, living with her son, Richard.
Born in Crisfield, Md., she was the daughter of the late Francis Holland Parks and Agnes Pearl Parks.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Byron Kirkendall Sr.; and a son, Michael Kirkendall.
Peggy was a beloved grandmother, sister and friend, and will be greatly missed.
She retired as a sales person for the former Woolworth's department store, Seaford, Del.
She is survived by her sons, Richard B. Kirkendall II. of Barnesville and Timothy Kirkendall of Glen Burnie, Md.; a daughter, Tammy K. Shannon of Jacksonville, Fla.; a sister, Kay Parks Pusey of Laurel, Del., Gloria Parks Smith of Seaford, Janet Parks Warwick of Salisbury, Md., and Betty Jo Parks Cowger of Pocomoke, Md.; a brother, Van Leer Parks of Reynoldsburg, Ohio; six grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; one great-great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Hannigan, Short, Disharoon Funeral Home, 700 West St., Laurel, Del., where friends may call this evening from 7 to 9 p.m.
