Margaret Hedwig New, 92

CLAYTON - Margaret Hedwig New, died Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2009. She was 92. She was born Dec. 19, 1916 in New York City, the daughter of the late Emil and Martha Kandler Schrom. She was married in 1943 to Waldo Harry New, and widowed in 1972. She was a 1933 graduate of Hunter College High School, New York City, followed by many years of employment in the clerical field. She joined her sister, Martha C. Gillespie, in 1976 after their retirement, sharing residence with her and her nephew, Victor C. Soreny. She is survived by a brother, Randolph Schrom of New Port Richey, Fla.; a sister, Martha C. Gillespie of Clayton; four nephews, Victor C. Soreny, Philip Gillespie, Gerard Schrom, and Joseph Schrom; and three nieces, Linda O'Kelly, Mary Lou Pennington, and Kathryn Shaffer. Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, August 24, 2009 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, corner of Massey Church Rd. and Clark Farm Rd., Smyrna. Interment will be in Wallkill Valley Cemetery, Walden, N.Y. To send a condolence letter, contact www.delmarvaobits.com.
