Margaret A. 'Marge' Davenport

MILFORD - Margaret A. "Marge" Davenport, 92, of Milford, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2009, at the Delaware Hospice Center, Milford. She was 92. Mrs. Davenport was born on Dec. 8, 1916, in Philadelphia, daughter of the late Isaac and Agnes (Madden) Achuff. She was an office manager and bookkeeper for many years for Service Oil in Milford before retiring. Marge enjoyed knitting, crocheting, camping trips and grew quite fond of the family dog, Lexie. She was also a long time fan of the Philadelphia Phillies. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Milford were she had also been a member of the choir. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son in 1945; her husband, Charles Davenport in 1965; five brothers, Thomas Achuff, William Achuff, John Achuff, Joseph Achuff, and James Achuff; two sisters, Elizabeth Achuff, and Hannah Achuff; and a son-in-law, George Zitzman. She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Dee and Keith Lowrey of Gilbert, Ariz., and Margie A. Zitzman of Milford; a brother, Theodore Achuff of Alden, Pa.; four grandchildren, Sheri Dunegan, Laurie Garza, Kevin Lowrey and Peggy Zitzman; three great grandchildren, two great- great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and very close friends, Mary Burch and Thomas Murphy. Services will be noon, Monday, Oct. 19, at Rogers Funeral Home, 301 Lakeview Ave., Milford, where friends may call two hours prior. Burial will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions to the First Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 172, Milford, DE 19963; or to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
