Mamie Amanda Rochester

Mamie Amanda (Brooks) Rochester, 86

DOVER - Mamie Amanda (Brooks) Rochester of Dover, formerly of Ridgely, Md., went home to meet her Lord and savior Saturday, Jan. 20, 2007, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. She was 86.

Mamie was born Sept. 4, 1921, daughter of the late Wilbert Perry Brooks and Mary Emma Brooks of Pondtown, Md.

She was educated in the Queen Anne's County public school system.

Mamie worked for the Campbell Soup Co., Chestertown, Md.

She was united in marriage to Albert Rochester in 1975.

Mamie accepted Christ as her personal savior in 1980, under the late Rev. Pearl K. Mathias, True Vine Gospel Church of Wilmington.

She was a very quiet person who loved her family and helped whomever she could.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Rochester; and a daughter, Mary Brinney, on Nov. 25, 2005.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories a son, George S. Brooks and his wife Ruth of Wilmington; a daughter, Gloria Brooks and her companion James of Dover; 12 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; five sisters, Elizabeth Wright, Gladys Paskins, and the Rev. Delores Freeman, all of Dover, and Edna Walker and Elsie Henry, both of Wilmington; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday in Bennie Smith Funeral Home, Dover, where friends may view two hours prior.

Burial will be in Whatcoat Cemetery, Dover.
