Mae Devlin Sandy BRADFORD, PA - Mae Devlin Sandy, born September 9, 1926 in Coffeyville, Kansas and raised in Bradford, Pennsylvania. Mom passed away May 14, 2010, in the Compassionate Care Hospice Center at St. Francis Hospital. Mom was a retired homemaker as well as a high school and college chemistry teacher. She had a life long love of learning and earned her B. S and Masters in Chemistry from Duquesne and Northwestern Universities. In 1974, after taking 24 years "off" to raise six children, Mom received her Masters Degree in Education. While at Northwestern she met and married her husband of 42 years, Charles Sandy, who predeceased her in 1992. While Mom's abiding love was always her family, she was an especially proud and devoted "grammy" to her eighteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. While her love was her family; her passions were the Phillies, crossword puzzles and knitting. In addition to her husband, Mom was preceded in death by her parents, William F. and Gertrude A. Devlin; and her brother William Devlin, of Erie, Pa. Mom is survived by her son, John and his wife Linda of Georgetown; her daughter, Patricia Hill and her husband Lee of Tampa, Fla.; her son, William, of Wilmington, Her son Charles, and his wife Patti, of Dover; her daughter, Dona Mesko, and her husband Morgan of Wilmington, and her daughter Mary Highberger, and her husband Daniel, of Wilmington; her brother, Robert Devlin, and his wife Mary, of Strasburg, Pa; and her sister, Dona Wheeler, and her husband Russell, of Erie, Pa.; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, in Liftwood, on Wednesday, May 19, at 12:00 noon. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery on Kirkwood Highway. Visitation for friends and family will be held at Chandler Funeral Home on Concord Pike Tuesday, May 18, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. www.chandlerfuneralhome.com
