Madalene Moore

HARRINGTON - Madalene (Wells) Moore, passed away Sunday, April 29, 2012, in her home. She was 94. Madalene was born in Milton, daughter of the late Joseph Sharp Wells and Lillian (Nailor) Wells. She was a homemaker and enjoyed all things to do with making her house a home. Madalene loved cooking, canning, baking, flower gardening and growing house plants. Madalene kept an immaculate home, was sharp-minded and could remember specific dates and times of events in her and her family's lives. Madalene graduated Valedictorian of the Milton School, Class of 1935, at the age of 17, having also skipped a grade. She had attended Calvary Wesleyan Church in Harrington for several years. In addition to her parents, Madalene is preceded in death by her husband, Lester S. Moore in 2007; a son, Robert I. Moore; and four siblings. She is survived by two daughters and sons in law, Ruth and Robert L. Herring, Locust Grove, Va. and Elizabeth "Betty" and Everett Kennedy, Sr., of Sudlersville, Md.; six grandchildren, Daniel, Doug and Diana Herring, Lesta Gunther, David Reiff and Steve Moore; 15 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held Saturday, May 5, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal Street, Milton, with visitation after 1:00 p.m. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Milton. Flowers are accepted, or contributions can be made to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
