MILFORD - Mabel M. Thompson of Milford died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2007, in Heritage at Milford where she was a resident for four years. She was 97.
Mrs. Thompson was born in Grantsville, Md., daughter of the late Henry and Cora Bealman.
After school she attended nursing school and for a good portion of her life she worked in private duty, hospitals and doctors offices.
Mrs. Thompson loved to volunteer. She volunteered at Mercy Hospital in Baltimore for years. For several years, she helped with a local soup kitchen making soup at home to be served to those in need.
After her second husband passed away in 1999, she moved to Harrington to live with her niece, Reba Jarrell and her husband, Norris. She then became a resident of Heritage in Milford.
Mrs. Thompson was a member of the Catholic Church in Baltimore and also the Garden Club in Baltimore. She loved her garden.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Edward Mackell; her second husband, Frank Thompson; six brothers, Daniel, Fred, Leonard, Carlos, Gideon, and Clark Wisseman; and three sisters, Betty Butler, Alma Smith, and Pauline Smith.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Services will be 10:20 a.m. Tuesday in St. Bernadette's Church, Harrington.
Burial will be private.
The family suggest memorial contributions to the Delaware Hospice, 20167 Office Circle, Georgetown, DE 19947; or a charity of choice.
