DOVER - Lucy J. Durney, of Dover, peacefully went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2008, at her home after a long and very courageous battle with cancer. She was 79.

She was born on April 16, 1928, in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., to the late Charles and Clara (Sturdevant) Tremayne.

In 1958, she married the love of her life, her husband of 40 years, George P. Durney.

In 1961, shortly after the birth of their first child, Lucy embarked on her true calling and mission-teaching piano in her home.

She was a skilled teacher and devoted counselor to her many students over the past 47 years.

Lucy is survived by son and his wife, Douglas and Becky Durney of Dover; daughter and her husband, Becky and Jim Cronin of Townsend; her precious grandchildren, Alyssa, Catherine, Patrick and Shane; and a sister, Dorothy Kelly of Camden.
