MILFORD - Lucy Estelle White, age 85, of Milford, peacefully departed this life to be with her Lord Jesus Christ Thursday, Feb. 23,2012. Born in Peoria, Miss., on Aug. 1, 1926, Lucy was the daughter of the late Estelle and John Abston. Always known as, "Mama Lucy," she lived in Alabama before settling in Milford. She worked at Sea Watch Corporation until she retired. Lucy was a member of Faith, Hope, and Love Church in Milford. Mrs. Lucy was preceded in death by her brothers, Johnny, Harry, Nathaniel, and Clarence Abston; and sisters, Ruby Lee Gamble, and Elizabeth Graham. She is survived by Annie Lee Reddix of Texas, Lula Mae Bell of Mississippi, Dessie Lee Abston and Andrew Abston of Delaware. Mama Lucy leaves behind one daughter, Charlene Singleton; and three granddaughters, LaKendra (Singleton) Clocuh, Crystal Singleton, Karlene Hazzard; and a host of nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind dedicated friends, Mark and Cynthia Sturgis and Lydia Wright. The family would like to thank the staff at Altantic Shores, Renaissance Healthcare for their support and wonderful care. The funeral service will be 11 a.m., Saturday, March 3, at Faith, Hope and Love Church in Milford and family and friends may call two hours prior to service.
