Lucinda Dorothy Jones-Ferrell, 77
NEW CASTLE - Lucinda Dorothy Jones-Ferrell of New Castle, fomerly of Colemans, Md., died Monday, Aug. 6, 2007 in University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, after a brief illness.
Born on March 23, 1930, in Worton, Md., she was the daughter of the late Ruben M. and Addie M. Jones.
Mrs. Ferrell worked for the Johnstones and Brissells families both of Delaware until her health failed her.
She attended Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church, Swedesboro, N.J.
Mrs. Ferrell"s interests included taking cruises, playing bingo, sitting in the front yard with the Golden Girls and spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, who she married in 1989, Morris Ferrell in 2000; four sisters; and six sisters.
She is survived by her two sons, Calvin "Junie" Butcher of Ocala, Fla., and Lonnie Butcher of Chestertown, Md.; two daughters, Marcia Ferrell of Paulsboro, N.J., and Claudine Ferrell of Swedesboro, N.J.; five sisters, Faye J. Little and her husband, James, Iris D. Oakley and her husband, Marvin, and Erma A. Jones, all of Worton, Md., Alberta Stevenson of Wilmington and Cynthia Oakley of Philadelphia; one brother, William Jones and his wife, Shirley of Worton; six grandchildren; and a devoted niece and caregiver, Dierdre Turner of Delaware.
Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Union United Methodist Church in Worton, where friends may call two hour prior to the service, and again from 7-9 p.m. today.
Burial will be 11 a.m. Monday in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear.
