CLAYTON, N.C. - Louise Jordan Miles, 64, architect and thespian, died on January 28, 2014, in Clayton, North Carolina from cancer. Louise was born July 9, 1949 in Washington D.C., to John and Helen Miles. She was married to Philip Muse from 1975 to 2000. She is survived by her sister, Carroll Norton; her nephew, John Norton; and her companion, Robert Smith. Louise received a BFA in Dramatic Arts from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1971. She worked in theater and as a magician's assistant before going earning a Master of Architecture from Virginia Polytechnic Institute in 1978. She spent the remainder of her career working as an architect in Washington D.C., Singapore and Milford, Del. for herself as well as for Cooper-Lecky (on the team for the Vietnam Veterans Memorial among other projects), Chloethiel Woodard Smith & Associates, and Harry Weese Associates. While with HWA she worked on metro projects including WMATA, NFTA in Buffalo N.Y., and MRT in Singapore (Republic of Singapore). Her private practice in Delaware included residences in the coastal towns of Lewes and Rehoboth Beach.
