Louis Wadell Woolford, 98
Louis W. Woolford quietly transitioned to his mansion on high on Tuesday September 29, 2022 (one day after his 98th birthday). He was the son of the late Rev. Wilbert and Mary Henry Woolford. The family maintained a Christian home in the agricultural community located near Cambridge, Maryland. He received his education at Frederick Douglass S. Clair High School, graduating in 1941.
Soon after graduation, Louis joined the U.S. Army where he received training to be a certified master carpenter. He was stationed in Australia, where he remembered seeing ships burning in the ocean upon his arrival. Following Australia, he was stationed in India and Pakistan. After an honorable discharge from the Army, he returned home for two years to work on the family farm.
After working on the farm, Louis again answered the call to serve his country, by enlisting in the U.S. Air Force. He was stationed in New York, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Korea, Georgia, (Louis D.) England, (Calmetta and William) and Dover Delaware, (Alexander). He received several awards for his dedicated service.
Louis married Arneda Vaughn Woolford. She passed early in their marriage. He later married Rosie Lee Woolford who also preceded him in death.
