MILFORD, Del. - Louis "Butch" John Renzi, Jr. passed away on Friday January 28, 2022 in his home surrounded by his wife and loving family. He struggled for the last few years battling COPD.
He was born on March 6, 1943 in Wilmington, Delaware to the late Louis J. Renzi, Sr. and Naomi Renzi (Mc Quay). Butch had ties to the Milford/Slaughter Beach area most of his life. As a child, he would spend summers at the family Slaughter Beach cottage. He moved his family to Houston, Del. in 1977.
Butch worked for ICI America/AstraZeneca in Wilmington, Delaware as a computer/network operator for 25 years. Throughout the years he and his wife Shirley Renzi (Nolan) owned various businesses in the Milford/Houston area such as Houston Mini Market, DelMor TV and Appliance, and O'Neill's Liquors. Butch was an avid hot rod car fan and enjoyed time boating around Kent Island, Md. and the surrounding waters. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. Butch was a member of the Milford Elks Lodge.
Butch was preceded in death by his sister, Naomi "Lee" Breslin.
He is survived by his loving wife and middle school sweetheart, Shirley (Nolan); his children, Peter Renzi (Marie), Christine Rust (Arron); and grandchildren, Nicole, Michael, Gabby, Jaron; and great grandchildren, Aubree, Trapper, and Sadie.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 3, 2022 from 6 – 8 p.m. in the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 NW Front St., Milford, DE 19963.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, February 4, 2022 at 11 a.m. at St. John the Apostle, 506 Seabury Ave, Milford, DE 19963. Interment will follow at Hollywood Cemetery in Harrington. As required by revised mandates during the pandemic, masks will be required for the health and safety of the family and those in attendance.
In Lieu of Flowers the family is requesting donations to Delaware Hospice who provided excellent care to Butch in his final days: Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
