Harrington - Louder E. McMullen passed away on Saturday, Feb. 3, 2018 at the Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital. Mr. McMullen was born in Harington, to the late John and Agnes J. McMullen.
Mr. McMullen worked for over 33 years with Delmarva Power and Light as a truck driver, retiring in 1983. He worked briefly on the railroad for a couple of years as well.
Mr. McMullen loved to go camping and hunting. He was an avid gardener and grew a big enough garden to feed most of the neighborhood. He enjoyed raising chickens and working in the woods in a sawmill, which he thoroughly enjoyed. One of his favorite activities was listening to the Blue Grass, Country, and Gospel music playing in Goldsboro and Petersburg with a talented group of friends that got together most Saturday nights. He will be remembered as a hard worker, loving husband, father, and grandfather, and will be greatly missed.
Mr. McMullen was a member of the Harrington Senior Center.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean McMullen; brothers, Howard and John McMullen; sisters, Alice Baker, Grace Ratledge, and Pauline Pepper; granddaughter, Kori Minner.
He is survived by his daughter, Bertha (Jack) Wyatt of Harrington; granddaughter, Deborah (Harry Jr.) Minner; great-grandchild, Kacie Minner.
Services will take place at the Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South Dupont Hwy., Harrington, on Friday, Feb. 9, 2018 at 12 p.m., with a visitation for family and friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington.
