Lorraine P. Jennie, 87
Lorraine P. Jennie went home to her Lord and Savior on December 9, 2020 in Dover, Delaware. She was born in New Richmond, Wisconsin on November 26, 1933.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Adeline Sicard; and two of her sisters, Rosella Polen and Helen Helgeson; and her grandson, Timothy Benedict.
She is survived by her husband, Myron Jennie; her sister, Leona Zeimer; and her five children, Jackie Westmoreland (husband Kent), Teri Jennie, Lorri Moore (husband Jeffrey), Mark Jennie (wife Chris) and Lisa Jennie; as well as special family friends that Lorraine considered members of the family, Julie King and her daughter, Ashley. She also has 12 grandchildren, Kristal, Ryan, Lauren, Lindsay, Josh, Nathan, Matthew, David, Carol, Mary, Michael, Britini; and 14 great grandchildren.
Myron and Lorraine were married for 68 wonderful years and travelled the world courtesy of Myron's employer for 20 years, the United States Air Force. Military life presented many challenges, but she faced them with determination and always kept her sense of humor. Lorraine was a member of various Lutheran churches in her travels; St. John's Lutheran in Dover, Delaware and Good Shepherd in Panama City, Florida were her favorites. She helped Myron run his own business in Dover after he retired from the Air Force. She worked as a volunteer for many years at Bay County Hospital in Panama City. Her favorite part was rocking the babies in the nursery. She and Myron were active members of the American Legion in both Florida and Delaware. She was a dedicated mother to her children and a devoted wife to Myron. She often said that she raised her children to be decent, tax-paying American citizens. Mission accomplished, Mom.
Lorraine and Myron made many life-long friends along the way and through their travels. It was not unusual for them to travel cross-country stopping many times along the way to visit old friends. Lorraine was generous and caring and her many friendships reflected that. She was also a very competitive Scrabble player as her friends and children can attest to. Her favorite Christmas gift would be the newest edition of the Scrabble dictionary. She was a terrible organ player though. She had one that had the letters on the keyboard to match the songbook and she would hold down the last key while she searched for the next one. That made for some very long songs.
She loved and was loved by her family and friends and will be missed by all. Due to COVID19 restrictions, the service will be private. A celebration of life for Lorraine will be held in the near future.
