SELBYVILLE - Lois J. Tucker, of Selbyville, formerly of Columbia, Md., passed away Saturday, Feb. 23, 2008, in Atlantic General Hospital, Berlin, Md. She was 71.
She was born in Munhall, Pa., daughter to the late George and Lucy (Schweinberg) Matthews.
Lois graduated from Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania.
She was a high school physical education teacher and also a cheerleading coach at Bowie High School in Prince George's County, Md., retiring in 1996 after 36 years of service.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Cynthia Ross.
She is survived by her loving husband, Joel Kuharik; her five children, Tracy Leahy and husband Sean of Annapolis, Md., Paula Moreland and husband Michael of Mount Pleasant, S.C., Robert Tucker of Lawrenceville, Ga., Carolyn Oler and husband Rick of Columbia, and Kathryn Tucker of Greenville, S.C.; four stepchildren, Leslie Glickstein, Heather Andaloro, Michael Kuharik and Vincent Kuharik, all of Atlantic City, N.J.; five siblings, Ruth Mathews, George Matthews, David Matthews, Glenn Matthews and Paul Matthews, all of the Pittsburgh area; 10 grandchildren; and five step-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be noon Friday in St. Matthews-by-the-Sea United Methodist Church, Ocean Highway and Dagsboro Street, Fenwick Island.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Lois' name to Links for the Pink Golf Tournament which benefits the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, 1276 Breckenridge Circle, Riva, MD 21140.
