Lois H. Hurst, 86

WILMINGTON - Lois H. Hurst, 86, of Wilmington, formerly of Dover, passed away suddenly at Wilmington Hospital on Saturday, June 27, 2009. Born in Hunter's Valley, Pa., Mrs. Hurst was the daughter of the late Lester and Martha (Brown) Hebel and step-mother, Kathryn. She graduated from Liverpool High School. Throughout the years, she held a variety of jobs including teller at Delaware Trust Co. bank and local antiques dealer. An active member of the Presbyterian Church of Dover, she served as elder, deacon, and choir member. She was also a member of Dover Century Club. Her husband, Richard L. Hurst, predeceased her in 1996, as well as her sister, Marjorie Rhoades. Mrs. Hurst will be dearly missed by her daughters and sons-in-law, Beverly and Paul Shunta and Jessica and David Rollins, all of Newark; her grandchildren, Matthew Jones (Michele), Laura Shunta, and Ben and Caroline Rollins; and two great-grandchildren, Zachary and Cassie Jones. Also surviving are her brothers and sisters in Pennsylvania, Donald Hebel, the Rev. H. Lee Hebel (Edith, Evelyn Flanders, and Jeanne Freed (Bob); her sister-in-law, Marion Wagner (Bob) of Dover; and many devoted nieces, nephews, and friends. A memorial service  will be 11 a.m. Thursday, July 2, at the Presbyterian Church of Dover, 54 S. State Street, Dover. Friends may call at the church beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will be private.
