MAGNOLIA - Lionel P. Butler Jr., "Diddy" or "PJ" of Magnolia past away tragically, Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2010. He was 10. Lionel was born Jan. 14, 2000, in Dover, to Tanya Lynn Edwards Butler and the late Lionel P. Butler Jr. He was a student at Star Hill Elementary School and was loved by his teachers and the students. Lionel loved basketball and football and wanted to one day be in the NBA. He enjoyed playing video games especially "Miami Heat" his favorite basketball team, and riding bikes with his brother. Lionel played basketball on the CYO at Holy Cross Catholic Church. Lionel was preceded in death by his father Lionel P. Butler, Jan. 18, 2002; and his grandfather, William Edwards, April 21, 1998. He is survived by his mother, Tanya Butler and her husband and stepfather, Antwan Seney of Magnolia; maternal grandmother, Darlene Edwards of Magnolia; paternal grandmother, Betty Young and her husband John of Dover, Lionel P. Butler, Sr. of Denton, Md.; brothers, Shaquille Thomas, Timothy Butler; sisters, Ty'J Houchens and Natanya Johnson; godmother, Eileen Holzhauser; aunt, Tina Fuller; uncles, Woodrow Edwards, Jan Edwards, Edward Tripp and William Edwards; a very special person who he thought of as his other father, Michael Johnson; and a host of special cousins. Funeral services will be 3 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2010, at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt. 10), Dover. Friends may call one hour prior. Interment will be in Mt. Olive Cemetery, Sandtown. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made in his memory to Star Hill Elementary School for the Lionel Butler Fund, 594 Voshell Mill – Star Hill Road, Dover, DE 19901.
