Lillian Viola Yancey

Lillian Viola Yancey, 81

HENDERSON, Md. - Lillian Viola Yancey, of Henderson, died Saturday, May 10, 2008, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover, Del. She was 81.

She was born July 28, 1926, in Brockton, Mass., to the late Ewald and Sonja (Thornberg) Swanson.

Mrs. Yancey moved to the area in 1971, coming from Brockton.

She worked for many years as a legal secretary for lawyers in Dover and for the law office of Phil Nuttle in Denton for 10 years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George E. Yancey, in 1968; and two sisters, Doris Sherlaw and Marjorie Swanson.

She is survived by a niece and her husband, Charles and Helen Baynard of Henderson; nephew and wife, Jim and Martha Sherlaw of Manheim, Pa.; niece and her husband, Sandy and Sidney Ott of Greensboro; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews; and a devoted caretaker, Carol Harrison.

Services will be private.

Interment will be in Greensboro Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Caroline County Humane Society, 407 W. Bell St., Ridgely, MD 21660.
