Lillian Maxine Hagen

HARTLY - Lillian Maxine Hagen, of Hartly, passed away on May 1, 2011, at Delaware Hospital for the Chronically Ill, Smyrna. She was born on Dec. 9, 1929, in Marlowe W.Va., daughter of the late George and Verba Ameta Buterbaugh. She was a graduate of Hagerstown High School in 1948 and a graduate of Victor Cullen State Hospital in Sabillasville, Md., where she received her degree in nursing in 1952. After graduating she went to work at Easton Memorial Hospital until 1965. She then went to work at Dover Air Force Base Hospital for over 10 years where she worked in the maternity ward and the OBGYN clinic until her illness in 1975. She was a devoted, kind and loving, wife, mother, and sister. She will be missed greatly by all who loved her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John G. Hagen in 1988. She is survived by her son, James B. Hagen and his wife Melanie of Hartly; her daughter, Elizabeth M. Bages and her husband Brian of Wyoming; two grandchildren, Kyle Cordeiro of Gaithersburg, Md., and Ashley Bages of Wyoming; two sisters, Anna Roberts of Hagerstown, Md., and Mildred Dula of West Virginia; as well as nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. The family would like to sincerely thank all who was involved in the caring of Mrs. Hagen at Delaware Home and Hospital for the Chronically Ill and the Heartland Hospice for their caring and support for Mrs. Hagen and her family. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donation be made to heartland Hospice. A grave side service will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 6, 2011, in Chesterfield Cemetery, Centreville, Md.
