Lettye Wood Thompson, 71
DAGSBORO - Lettye Wood Thompson of Dagsboro died Friday, July 13, 2007, in her home. She was 71.
Mrs. Thompson was born in Berlin, Md., daughter of the late Harold and Gertrude Mason.
For the last 22 years, until very recently, she worked at Wilson"s Auction, Lincoln. She also worked for the Delmarva Shorebirds.
Mrs. Thompson truly was the cornerstone of her family, which she considered greater than any accomplishment in her life, and there were many. She enjoyed traveling. Her trips to California, Las Vegas, Alaska, New York, Hawaii, Florida, Branson, Mo., and many other places gave her many fond memories. Just last year, she traveled to Turks and Caicos in the Caribbean to watch her grandson get married. She also enjoyed watching NASCAR, basketball and her favorite soap opera, "The Guiding Light." Every year, she would organize a family camping trip with, usually, no fewer than 20 family members and friends attending; hardly a month would go by without her having a birthday dinner and party for someone in her family that she loved so much. She gave her heart to her family and her soul to the Lord.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Danny Cropper Sr.; a brother, Harold Mason; a sister, Mary LeJune; and a granddaughter, Deena Kay.
She is survived by two sons and two daughters-in-law, Greg and Patti Cropper of Lewes, and David and Faith Wood of Greenbackville, Va.; a daughter and a son-in-law, Terry and Martin Dukes of Roxana; eight grandchildren, Dan "DJ" Cropper Jr., and his wife, Jennifer, Denise Collins, and her husband, Ryan, Gary Connelly, Eric Connelly, Dustin Bunting, and his wife, Cassie, Michael Wood, Ryan Cropper and Starlynn Wood; and six great-grandchildren, Cody Collins, Adam Connelly, Brittany Connelly, Amara Cropper, Cameren Connelly and Brayden Bunting.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in Holloway Funeral Home P.A., 501 Snow Hill Road, Salisbury, Md., where friends may call one hour earlier. Pastor Tim Wilson will officiate.
Burial will be in Wicomico Memorial Park, Salisbury.
The family suggests memorial contributions to The American Cancer Society, 1138 Parsons Road, Salisbury, MD 21801; or to Delaware Hospice, Southern Division, Georgetown Professional Park, 600 Du Pont Highway, Suite 107, Georgetown, DE 19947.
