DOVER - Leslie Van Vechten died Wednesday, July 11, 2012, at Pinnacle rehabilitation center, Smyrna. Ms. Van Vechten was born May 9, 1953 in Philadelphia, Pa. to Elizabeth Parmentier Van Vechten and the late Roger R. Van Vechten. She had worked for Delaware Division of Unemployment, Hanover Foods and Kelly services. Ms. Van Vechten enjoyed crafts and baking. Ms. Van Vechten is survived by her mother, Elizabeth Van Vechten of Philadelphia, Pa.; sisters, Lizanne Pessolano of Bridgeton, N.J. and Louise Stewart of Philadelphia, Pa.; brother, Stephen Van Vechten of Philadelphia, Pa.; special friends Sam Haynes and Kacie; four nieces and nephews and four great nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 18, 2012, at Torbert Funeral Chapel, 61 S. Bradford Street, Dover. Friends may call from 12 to 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to American Cancer Society, 92 Reads Way, Suite 205, New Castle, Delaware 19720. Letters of condolence may be sent and guestbook signed at www.torbertfuneral.com.
