HOUSTON - Leona Marie "Mom" Cain, of Houston, died Sunday, March 27, 2011, at Delaware Hospice Center, Milford. She was 82. Mom Cain worked at the family business, Cedar Lane Resale of Houston where she was still working at the ripe old age of 82. She was known as "Mom" to everyone in Houston. She enjoyed barbecues and always had one on her birthday. Christmas was also a favorite time of year for her as well. In her spare time, she enjoyed doing crossword puzzles with her great-granddaughter Cheyenne Marie, watching I Love Lucy and Shirley Temple Movies on tape, and watching game shows. She was very outgoing, and people would come into her office to drink coffee and talk to Mom Cain, and she enjoyed this tremendously. Mom Cain cherished her family dearly. She enjoyed being with her great-grandchild, Heather and reading to her. She also looked forward to Saturday nights with Mary Marie who enjoyed coming over to have a game night with her mom-mom and pop-pop. She will be sadly missed. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Cain Jr.; father, Frank James Donze; stepfather, Benjamin A. Lonski Sr.; mother, Mabel Lonski; brothers, Robert J. Donze Sr., and Howard J. Donze; and sisters, Louise Smith, and Mable Kemp. She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Leroy Donald and Adela Cain of Bethany Beach, Thomas Edward and Ellen Cain of Houston; brother and sisters-in-law, Francis J. Donze of Magnolia, Donald and Lucy Donze of Cherry Hill, N.J., and Benjamin A. and Nyleen Lonski of Magnolia; grandchildren, Mary Marie Cain (referred to as "Her Princess" by Mom Cain) of Houston, and Sunny Cain of Roxana; great-grandchildren, Cheyenne, Heather, Alex, and Ace; and special friend, Susie Silbereisen. Services will be 1 p.m., Friday, April 1, 2011, in Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington, where a visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday evening. Fellowship will be following the services Friday at Houston Fire Company. Interment will be in Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington.
