DOVER - Leon Cecil Prescott went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, July 1, 2021, in the Delaware Hospice Center, Milford, surrounded by his loving family.
Leon was born April 7, 1928, in Phillips, Maine to the late, Charles and Iona (Heath) Prescott. He worked for many years for Papen Farms, and in his free time enjoyed bowling, woodworking, gardening, exploring family history, and spending time with his family. Leon received the Jefferson Award for his volunteer service provided to the Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge, in Smyrna, and was a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Dover.
Leon was the youngest of nine sons: George, Theodore, Alfred, John, Colby, Mason, Ervin and Melvin.
Leon is survived by his wife of 71 years, Sara (Jones) Prescott; three children, Richard Prescott and wife, Ann, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Lynda Wheeler and husband, Tom, of Dover, and Lisa Bishoff and husband, Mike, of Lewes; grandchildren, Christopher Prescott and wife, Jennifer, Matthew Prescott and wife, Cay, Stacy Meisinger and husband, Ryan, Emily Sherman and husband, Joe, Janel Prescott, Thomas Wheeler, and Tyler Bishoff; great-grandchildren, Madison, Avery, and Sofia Prescott, Damien Wheeler, Logan, Carson, and Layne Meisinger, and Grant, Carter, and Aubrey Sherman.
Funeral Services will be held 1 p.m., Friday, July 9, 2021, in Pippin Funeral Home, Inc., 119 West Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, Del.; where family and friends may view one hour before. Burial will follow in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963 or to Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge, 2591 Whitehall Road, Smyrna, DE 19977.
