Lawrence Richard Dill

HARRINGTON - Lawrence Richard Dill, Sr. passed away suddenly on Monday, Jan. 7, 2019. He was born Oct. 22, 1942 in Wilmington son of the late Lawrence and Catherine (Feyl) Dill.
Mr. Dill served his country as a U.S. Army Veteran. He drove for U.S. Mail. He enjoyed cars and NASCAR races. He was a member of the Historical Vintage Car Club of Delaware.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Dill; and sisters, Ada Dill and Pearl Penuel.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley J. Dill of 40 years; a son, Lawrence (Tina) Dill, Jr; three daughters, Joeannie (Matt) Layfield, Mary Dill and Jennie (Fred) Dill; nine grandchildren, Lawrence, III and Tori Dill, Ethan, Ashton and Izaak Layfield, James Emma, Eric and Frederick IV Patrick; a special brother, Norman "Buddy" Dill; a special niece and nephew, Catherine (Mitch) Harding and David (Robin) Dill; and several other nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to Historical Vintage Car Club of Delaware at P.O. Box 43, Dover, Delaware; Bethel Wesleyan Church at 437 Main Street/P.O. Box 141 Goldsboro, Maryland or Felton Fire Department at 9 E. Main Street, Felton, Delaware.
A funeral service will be held at Fleegle and Helfenbein Funeral Home – 106 W. Sunset Avenue, Greensboro, Md. on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2019 at 2 p.m. with a visitation one hour prior.
