MAGNOLIA, DE - Lawrence Jefferson Farrow, Jr. passed away Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at Bayhealth Hospital, Milford.
Mr. Farrow was born, June 9, 1933 in Felton, where he was known as "Fido" and in Harrington, Delaware and lived most of his life in Magnolia. To the late Lawrence J. Farrow, Sr. and Ella Mae Donophan.
He was a projectionist at the Reese's Movie Theater and then as a projectionist at the Milford Movie Theater, and one of the 1st projectionist at Kent Drive In, in Camden. He worked as a carrier for the Delaware State News for 15 years. Mr. Farrow also was a self-employed painter, both residential and commercial, for 30 years. He worked for McDonalds, working in maintenance while his children were growing up. He was known at Spences and very rarely missed a day there and became acquainted with many in the Amish community and worked with them in his painting career.
Mr. Farrow also worked for Mr. Simpson as a horse groomer which he traveled around the United States and parts of Canada. He was raised in the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Harrington and a member of the Dover 1st Seventh Day Adventist Church and Forest Grove for the last 15 years and was a member of the Frederica Senior Center for over 30 years. Mr. Farrow enjoyed watching NASCAR, the Baltimore Orioles, and the Phillies. He enjoyed spending time at the Magnolia Restaurant and loved chicken and dumplings. Mr. Farrow was an avid bowler and was 1st in Delaware to bowl a 800 series at Milford Bowling Lanes in 1976 on lanes 23 & 24. He was also a horseshoe champion 4 years straight in the 1990's and a great pool player. The family never met a person that didn't like him.
In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by his son, Ronnie Farrow; and granddaughter, Amanda Yannucci; sisters, Betty Grieco and Eleanor Simpson.
He is survived by sons, Jeff Farrow of Magnolia, Randy Farrow and his wife Mary Sweet-Farrow of Felton, and Kenny James Farrow of Dover; grandson, Logan Yannucci of Dover; nieces, Robbin Beene and Debbie Bennett; and nephew, Barry Simpson of Harrington.
The Viewing will be on Saturday evening, October 7, 2023 from 7-9PM at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (RT.10), Dover. Funeral services will be held at 3PM, Sunday, October 8, 2023, at Dover First Seventh Day Adventist Church, 647 Wyoming Avenue, Dover, DE 19904. Interment will be 11AM, Monday, October 9, 2023, in Barratt's Chapel Cemetery, Frederica.
In lieu of flowers the suggests contributions be made to Torbert Funeral Chapel, 61 S. Bradford Street, Dover, DE 19904 to help defray funeral expenses.
