CAMDEN - Larry J. Slaughter Sr. of Camden passed away in his sleep Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2007, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. He was 59.
Larry was born Aug. 24, 1948, in Dover, son of Mary Spencer Slaughter of Frederica and the late Frank W. Slaughter.
He was a painter by trade and enjoyed country music, playing pool, going to the beach, riding on the golf cart, and most of all, being with his family.
In addition to his loving mother, Larry is survived by a daughter, Terri Ford of Smyrna; a son, Larry J. Slaughter Jr. of Hartly; a brother, Herbert Slaughter of Clayton; two sisters, Diane Brown of Felton, and Darlene Cox of Harrington; six grandchildren, Travis Ford, Jordan Ford, Jessica Slaughter, Lauren Slaughter, Samantha Slaughter and Aaron Turbitt; and a great-grandson, Shawn Dixon.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday in Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 S. Main St., Smyrna, where friends may call one hour prior to the services.
Burial will be in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 100 W. 10th St., Suite 1103, Wilmington, DE 19801.
Jennie E. Striegel, 86
FELTON - Jennie E. Striegel of Felton died Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2007, in Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital. She was 86.
Mrs. Striegel was born in Queens, N.Y., daughter of the late Charles and Emily Gamble.
She was a homemaker.
In her spare time, Mrs. Striegel enjoyed crocheting.
She lived a simple life, and always put her family first.
Mrs. Striegel especially enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She shared a great love for them, as well as the rest of her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter F. Striegel; a son, Edward Charles Hludzinski; her brothers, Edward Gamble, James Gamble, Bernard Gamble and William Kelly; and a sister, Doris Sokolowski.
She is survived by a daughter, Linda Gonzalez and her husband Randolph of Harrington; a sister, Florence Siebert of Pennsylvania; her granddaughters, Tina Marie Birch of Felton, and Amy Adale Gonzalez of Forest Hills, Queens, N.Y.; and her great-grandchildren, Devin Michael Birch and Jeremy A. Birch.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday in Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 S. Dupont Highway, Harrington. Friends may call from 7 to 9 this evening in the funeral home.
