GREENWOOD - Larry Earl Davis of Greenwood died on Sunday, Dec. 27, 2015, after a 7+ year battle with Alzheimer's disease. Larry was born on Oct. 21, 1942 in Santa Monica, California, to the late Luther and Ethel Hollis Davis. In his youth he was a Boy Scout, attaining the highest rank, Eagle Scout. He graduated from Natrona County High School in Casper, Wyoming in 1960. He furthered his education at Northwestern University and Illinois Institute of Technology, majoring in Civil Engineering & Construction Management, earning his degrees in BSCE & MSCE. After college he worked as an engineer for 45 years and achieved the position of senior civil engineer. Larry retired from Bechtel North America, for whom he worked more than 30 years. He worked in Canada, Korea, and many states in the USA. The past 20 years of his working life were spent in Huntsville, Alabama. He had many interests including building and collecting model cars. He enjoyed traveling, country and western music, genealogy and photography. He was an avid fan of race cars, especially Formula 1 cars and was a 25 year member of the Sports Car Club of America. Larry had a dry sense of humor, a gentle spirit, and loved to eat. He attended The Disciples of Christ Church in Casper, Wy.; and whenever he was in Delaware he would go to church with Linda's family. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Kay Wilson who he met in Chicago. They were married for 13 1/2 years before her death in 1993. He was also preceded in death by his brother-in-law, JR Campbell. He is survived by a sister-in-law, Linda Campbell of Greenwood, and Linda's children Jeff Wright of Greenwood, and Shelly (Matt) Yaeger and their son Camden of Ft. Mill, S.C., mother-in-law Helen Wilson of Greenwood; brother Kenneth Davis (Sue) of Bremerton, Washington; sisters Diana Smith (Gordon) of Hemingford, Neb., and Kathy Bayes (Guy) of Fort Wayne, Ind. and numerous nieces and nephews throughout the United States. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 2, 2016 at 2 p.m., at St. Johnstown UMC outside of Greenwood. Viewing will be 1 hour prior to his funeral. Internment will be held in adjoining cemetery.
