Larry C. Collier

Larry C. Collier, 64

SMYRNA - Larry C. Collier of Smyrna went to be with the Lord on Monday, Dec. 17, 2007. He was 64.

He was born in Birmingham, Ala., son of the late Frank L. and V. Louise Collier.

Larry served in the U.S. Air Force from 1960-64, and later served for many years in the Air Force Reserves.

After his discharge, he settled in Delaware and began a 30-year career with Chrysler Corp. in Newark.

After his retirement, Larry provided transportation for several Amish families, and also was employed as a computer consultant for the Smyrna School District.

He was a longtime member of the Smyrna Wesleyan Church, where he served as a Sunday school superintendent and teacher, with the trustees and with the Wesleyan Men's Group, as well as assisting with the youth group and formerly serving as vice-chairman of the local church board.

Larry enjoyed gospel and country music, as well as computers and photography.

The most important things in his life were his family, grandchildren, friends and his church.

He will be remembered as a man of faith who was understanding and patient, and who was loved by everyone.

In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by a son, Philip M. Collier; and a brother, James L. Collier.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Joyce A. Collier; a son, Mark Collier and his wife Michelle of Magnolia; a daughter-in-law, Arlene Collier of Smyrna; a brother, Barry Collier of Graysville, Ala.; a sister, Linda Lawson and her husband David of Decatur, Ala.; four grandchildren, Alek, Nicholas, Martie and Piper Collier; and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday in Smyrna Wesleyan Church, 433 W. Commerce St., Smyrna, where friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to services on Friday.

Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Smyrna.

Instead of flowers, contributions may be sent to Smyrna Wesleyan Church, 433 W. Commerce St., Smyrna, DE 19977.

Arrangements are by Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Smyrna.
