SMYRNA - Larry Brown of passed away suddenly at home on April 20, 2021. He was born in Dover on January 29, 1955, to the late Robert L. Brown Sr. and Mary Anne Brown of Smyrna.
Larry was a 1973 graduate of Smyrna High School where he played basketball and baseball. He retired in 2008 after 30 years of service as a Correctional Officer for the State of Delaware. Larry was an avid softball player, who played well into his 60's and still had a passion for the game. He also enjoyed spending time with family, especially his best friend, his grandson Wyatt. Larry will be remembered by his friends and neighbors as the man who cut his grass 3 times a week, and was an incredible ball player with a "cannon" arm.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra L. Brown (Emerson).
Larry is survived by his daughter, Lara Brown and grandson, Wyatt Brown; his brother, Robert L. Brown (Gerry) of New Castle; his sister, Dora L. Virdin (Dean) of Hartly and their children. He is also survived by his wife's family, The Emerson's, his companion Rose Morris, and his lifelong friends Allan and Cheryl Dill of Dover.
Services will be held on Wednesday April 28, 2021 at Faries Funeral Home, in Smyrna Delaware where friends may visit from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Services will begin at 1 p.m. with the graveside service immediately following at Glenwood Cemetery.
As a special request by Larry's grandson Wyatt, he would love to see you dress like Pop- Pop. Therefore, you are more than welcome to come in your khaki pants and a Harley shirt, or a black shirt to the services.
