Landis Roberta Davis, 64

DOVER - Landis Roberta Davis of Dover departed this life Saturday, Nov. 3, 2007, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. She was 64.

She was born on Feb. 27, 1943, in Isle of Wight County, Va., to Annie E. Whitehurst and the late Marshall L. Whitehurst Sr.

Landis was a graduate of Georgia Tyler High School, Windsor, Va.

Her employment included General Electric, Suffolk, Va., and Coca-Cola Co., Wichita, Kan.

Landis moved to Dover in 1990.

She begin training as a nursing assistant and became employed with Courtland Manor and Westminster Village in Dover and Scott's Nursing Home in Smyrna.

Landis loved traveling with her companion, Darman.

"Miss Fox," as she was affectionately known, loved dressing up and shopping for jewelry.

She also had a special hand for interior decorating.

Landis loved spending time with family and friends.

She is survived by her mother, Annie E. Whitehurst of Dover; her loving and faithful companion of 18 years, Darman Evans of Smyrna; three brothers, Marshall L. Whitehurst (Mary) of Hampton, Va., Ralph D. Whitehurst (Brenda) of Harrington and Hezekiah J. Whitehurst (Bridgett) of Dover; one sister, Linda W. Moore (Clarence) of Dover; one uncle, Earl Whitehurst (Lillian) of Zuni, Va.; three aunts, Nora Williams of Petersburg, Va., Sadie Copeland (D.L.) of Windsor and Florine Whitehurst (Lilton) of Ivor, Va.; 10 nieces, Teresa, Twanna, Marsha, Ashley, Tiffany, Tanisha, Tierra, Francina, Catrina and Tyias; six nephews, Marshall, Tyrone, Wesley, Rodney, Miles and Clarence Jr.; a host of other relatives and friends; and last, but not least, Landis leaves to cherish her memory a very special "mom," Pauline Evans of Smyrna, whom she loved very dearly.

A viewing will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in Bennie Smith Funeral Home, Dover.

Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Bennie Smith Funeral Home, where friends may view two hours prior.

Burial will be at Whatcoat Cemetery.
