FELTON - L. Gertrude Harmon was surrounded by her family when she went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, April 8, 2015. Gertrude was born Sept. 24, 1952 to the late Orrie and Anna Mae Tennefoss Bawel. She was a member of Hickory Ridge Community Church in Greenwood, and also had attended New Beginning Church in Marydel, Del. Gertrude had many interests which included quilting, collecting dolls, reading (especially Amish novels), listening to gospel music, visiting family in Missouri, going to the beach for ice cream, and taking walks at Killens Pond. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Glen Millaway, a daughter, Suzanne Smith, a brother, Allen Bawel, and a sister Dorothy Massey. She is survived by her husband Ralph Harmon Jr. of 8 years; six children, Elvis Millaway and Corri Hunt of Greenwood, Rango Millaway of Milford, Misty Karrick and husband Todd of Missouri, Emily Harmon of Dover, Mark Harmon of Montana, and Ralph Harmon III of New Castle; eight grandchildren, Buddy and Sammy Smith, Ellie, Elaina, and Elvis Jr. Millaway, Breanna Perry, and Julia and Archer Harmon; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Anna Joseph and Vivian Smith; two brothers, Daniel and Philip Bawel; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 12, 2015 at Hickory Ridge Community Church, 12237 Sussex Hwy, Greenwood, DE 19950. Calling hour will be from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Interment will be held at St. Johnstown Cemetery in Greenwood In lieu of flowers donations may be made to: Compassionate Care Hospice, 28467 DuPont Blvd, Suite 6, Millsboro, DE 19966.
