HARRINGTON - Kenneth Thurau of Harrington, formerly of Ridgewood, N.Y., passed away Tuesday, May 29, 2007, in Bayhealth–Milford Memorial Hospital after a long illness. He was 67.
Mr. Thurau was born in New York City, son of the late Anna and Edward Thurau.
He retired in 1994 as a truck driver for the Wylburn Trucking Co. in Queens, NY. He moved to Delaware in 2000 and settled in Harrington.
In his spare time, he enjoyed playing bingo and cards. He also enjoyed playing games on his computer. In his younger years, he enjoyed wood working, and made several handcrafted wall units.
Mr. Thurau will be remembered as a quiet and easy going man, who enjoyed spending time with his family and spoiling his grandchildren.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Rosemarie D. Thurau of Harrington; a son and a daughter-in-law, Chuck and Judy Thurau of Brooklyn, N.Y.; two daughters and a son-in-law, Laura Thurau of Harrington and Jennifer and Chris Kulczynski of Maspeth, N.Y.; a brother and a sister-in-law, Raymond and Elaine Thurau of Franklin Square, N.Y.; seven grandchildren, Noel, Nina, Eddie, Vicki Thurau, Cheyanne Camacho, Krzysztof and Monika Kulczynski; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 S. DuPont Highway, Harrington.
A funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday in the funeral home.
