DOVER - Kenneth Howard Wendler passed away, Friday, January 12, 2024 at home.
Mr. Wendler was born April 26, 1946 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late Albert Wendler and Johanna Gregor Wendler, moving to Kent County Delaware at an early age, settling in Smyrna.
After graduation he enlisted in the United States Navy during the Cuban Crisis and Vietnam as a hurricane chaser. After his Navy career he started working in HVAC and in the early 80's started Ken Wendler Heating and Air Conditioning, retiring in 2020. He was a member of the Walter L. Fox Post American Legion Post #2. Mr. Wendler enjoyed spending time on the water, boating and fishing, and spending time with his family. While Mr. Wendler was an avid Philadelphia sports fan, there was nothing he loved more than watching his grandchildren play baseball.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Mary Lou Gregory Wendler of Dover; daughter, Angela Fowler and her husband Gary of Magnolia; brothers, Abert Wendler of Phila, PA and Eric Wendler and his wife Kathy of Richmond, VA; grandchildren, Steven Davis of Dover and Evan Fowler of Magnolia; great grandchildren, Kallen and Noemi Davis.
A celebration of life to honor and remember Mr. Wendler will be held at Maranatha Baptist Church, 605 W. Lebanon Rd., Dover, DE, 19901, on January 27, 2024 at 1 p.m.
